But had many pitfalls. The end of last year, I began wondering if we can simply come up with a way to plant without tilling the soil, but somehow, keep the weeds down. Thank You for your wisdom. Some of them practiced this method. There were differing areas of success. They could not believe when I carried out my dirty dishwater to water plants and flowers. Some underground pests ate my squash and we actually watched as something pulled a squash down and ate it leaving only the whole the plant was growing out of. The plant was about 3 feet in diameter and we had 10 of them. They all disappeared in one afternoon.It was discouraging. Our neighbors had 2 plants of corn in a 40 acre field.
